Choose A Preschool Near Work?
Here at Irvine Preschools, one of the many things that we think you should consider in choosing a preschool is proximity to your work place.  If your workplace is even a few miles from your home it may be a good decision to enroll your child in a school near work instead of home.

There are many advantages to having your child’s preschool be near the place where you work.

You can easily stop by and visit your child

Tammy lives in Corona but works in Irvine.  When it came time for her to choose a preschool for her oldest daughter she was able to find one only one block from where she works. She takes advantage of being close by stopping by and checking in on her child from time-to-time. This provided some extra comfort especially in the early days of enrollment.  Sometimes she would just stop in the director’s office and watch her daughter on the monitor there.  Other times she would take a break during snack time and join the class for these few special minutes.  It helps her stay connected with her daughter.

If your child gets sick you are readily available

It happens.  Your child starts feeling sick and ends up in the “sick room” of the preschool.  How comforting it is to know that if this happens you are close by.  Most of the time it just means being able to comfort him during your lunch break.  At other times, if the illness is more serious, you can be close enough to deal with any emergency situation that might arise.

You can have the time driving to and from work as special time with your child

Depending on what time you leave for work and what time you leave for home, many parents find it rewarding to have that time with their child.  You can prepare them for the day ahead and have a great talk on the way home.  Or you can just sing!  Even if you don’t have anything to say, just being with each other during that time can add special time together every day.

You can use the commuter lane!

Don’t laugh this one away!  You could cut your commute time by 15 to 30 minutes if you strap that little one into the car seat on your trip.  That can mean up to an extra 100 hours per year you have at home.  And you don’t have the headache of sitting in traffic.  It may not be the deciding factor but it could sway your decision.

You will have a sense of peace knowing your child is close by

“Proximity is Peace.” Just having your child close by may give you an extra sense of peace and protection.  We parents have these instincts and knowing your child is near can be quite satisfying.

This is just one of the many factors to consider when choosing a preschool.
